Former TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer to Give Interview at TPI Virtual Aspen

Who could have foreseen an epic battle over national security concerns between a sitting President and an app mostly used by lip-synching, dancing tweens that might culminate in Walmart’s entry into social media? Put that on the list of “events so unlikely we once couldn’t even have imagined them, but it’s 2020, so here we are.”

Former TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer will be interviewed by Needham and Company’s Senior Analyst in Entertainment, Cable, and Media Laura Martin to help us understand the controversy involving TikTok, its parent company ByteDance, TikTok’s many suitors, and the United States Government. Mayer held the position from May 2020 to August 2020, putting him in the center of that storm. In addition to the spicy TikTok story, Mayer has a long history in the upper echelons of the entertainment world, including many years as Executive Vice President with Disney, and has valuable insights into the competition between traditional media, social media, and various other forms of entertainment.

Martin’s work on the future of entertainment combined with Mayer’s experience is sure to provide an interesting and enlightening conversation about the state of entertainment, how the pandemic may have shifted it, and what is to come.
