Antitrust policy has become a focal point for debate over the proper role of the government in the economy. Some argue that antitrust policy has been too lax and too quick to dismiss concerns of competitors, contributing to increased concentration across the economy. Others argue that antitrust enforcement has been effective and that its focus on consumers at least partly explains why the world’s most innovative companies tend to come from the United States. The current and former FTC commissioners on this panel will discuss these and other policy issues the FTC is likely to face next year, regardless of who wins the election.
