Instead of the normal keynote and welcoming remarks to open the TPI Aspen Forum, we decided the Sunday evening opening reception would be the perfect opportunity to make a very special announcement:
TPI President Tom Lenard is stepping down, and current VP for Research Scott Wallsten is taking over.
As I didn’t speak last night, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for his guidance over the almost decade that I’ve worked with him. His unflappable demeanor has always made him a great colleague and boss. And, his academic work has strongly influenced my own views over the years regarding everything from online privacy to the intricacies of net neutrality. I am very happy he’s sticking around, if nothing else but to give me someone to talk to about the latest political scandal, or simply someone to trade cat stories with.
And, of course, I am pleased that Scott will be taking over and look forward to seeing what he does with TPI (with my able assistance, of course).
Check the TPI YouTube channel throughout the rest of the conference for videos of panels and keynotes and, as always, you can follow along with tweets from myself and attendees at #TPIAspen.
Look for highlights of Monday’s panels and keynotes tomorrow.
