Ioannis Kessides is a Senior Fellow at the Technology Policy Institute and a former Lead Economist in the World Bank’s Development Research Group. His areas of expertise include competition policy, regulation and privatization in network industries, market structure and firm behavior, entry and exit, and contestability analysis. Prior to joining the World Bank in 1990, Kessides taught at the University of Maryland and served as an economist in the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Line of Business Program. After his time at the World Bank, he also served as a lecturer at Yale University. He holds a B.S. in Physics from Caltech, an M.A. in Plasma Physics (nuclear fusion) from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton.
