This panel will discuss the future of antitrust enforcement and policy. Key topics will include the FTC and DOJ revised merger guidelines and the impact of the apparently changing antitrust enforcement strategy of moving away from the long-standing goal of protecting consumers to protecting labor markets and smaller rivals. The discussion will also explore how the outcome of the November 2024 presidential election could affect current and future antitrust priorities and enforcement at the DOJ and FTC over the next four years with respect to big tech.

Panelists:

  • Robert Crandall, Adjunct Fellow, Technology Policy Institute
  • Ginger Jin, Professor of Economics, University of Maryland
  • Michael Katz, Professor of Economics, University of California Berkeley
