New technologies such as the internet of things, big data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning deliver a diverse range of private and public benefits. They all also require massive amounts of data in order to work effectively. How do innovators and policymakers strike a balance between privacy concerns and providing innovative services consumers want? The panel “The Future of Privacy in a World of Ubiquitous Data” at this year’s TPI Aspen Forum, scheduled for August 21-23, will discuss the effect of these developments on how companies and governments should approach privacy and data security policy. The panel will also consider related issues, including the competitive implications of privacy and data security regulation and international developments, such as the recently negotiated privacy data shield.
