Progress on copyright reform has been slow despite many circulating bipartisan proposals. What are the pros and cons of various proposed reforms, and what are the prospects for achieving them? Participants in the working group “Copyright Reform: Breaking the Logjam” at this year’s TPI Aspen Forum will explore areas Congress, the Copyright Office, and the copyright community are discussing. Topics at the off-the-record breakout session will include modernization of the Copyright Office, including its relationship to the Library of Congress; the application of the DMCA section 512 “safe harbor” provisions; and possible reforms to the current music licensing regime. *

Speakers at the working group, moderated by TPI Senior Fellow and President Emeritus Thomas Lenard are:

Jason Everett (invited), U.S. House of Representatives
Mitch Glazier, Recording Industry Associate of America
Garrett Levin, National Association of Broadcasters
Geoffrey Manne, International Center for Law and Economics
Peter Menell, University of California at Berkeley School of Law
Katherine Oyama, Google, Inc.
