Scott Wallsten Named Vice President For Research

PhD Economist Brings Domestic and International IT Policy Expertise

January 14 , 2008 – Washington , DC – Economist Scott Wallsten will join iGrowthGlobal (www.igrowthglobal.org) January 14th as Vice President for Research and Senior Fellow. In this capacity, he will help coordinate and supervise iGG’s research program and also conduct his own research.

“I am extremely happy that Scott is joining us,” said iGG President Tom Lenard. “Scott is doing important research on broadband and other IT policy issues. His expertise in both the domestic and international sphere makes him a perfect fit for iGG. I look forward to once again having him as a colleague and to having his help in developing iGG’s overall strategy going forward.”

Wallsten said: “I’m excited about coming to iGG and helping to shape this new venture. There is a real need for an institution that produces rigorous, relevant policy research on IT and communications policy issues. iGG has the right focus and a very promising future.”

Before joining iGG, Dr. Wallsten was most recently Director of Communications Policy at The Progress & Freedom Foundation. Wallsten has also been a senior fellow at the AEI-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies and a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, an economist at The World Bank, a scholar at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and a staff economist at the U.S. President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He is also a senior fellow at the Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy and a Lecturer in Stanford University’s Public Policy Program. His research has been published in numerous academic journals and his commentaries have appeared in newspapers throughout the world. He has a PhD in economics from Stanford University.
