Aspen Forum Panel: Privacy, Big Data and AI: US v EU v China?

Watch this panel from the 2018 TPI Aspen Forum August 19 – 21.

Privacy, Big Data, and AI: US v EU v China?  The US, EU, and China approach privacy differently. Advances in artificial intelligence and related technologies, meanwhile, require access to large amounts of data and the ability to use it in creative and unforeseen ways. How much do regulations and attitudes regarding privacy affect innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence? If regional approaches to privacy match residents’ preferences, how should policy respond to differences in AI and other technological innovation?

Panelists included:

  • Julie Brill, Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Microsoft
  • Ginger Jin, Professor of Economics, University of Maryland, and former Director of FTC Bureau of Economics
  • Leslie John, Associate Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School
  • Samm Sacks, Senior Fellow, Center for Strategic and International Studies
  • Hal Varian, Chief Economist, Google
  • Scott Wallsten (moderator), Senior Fellow and President, Technology Policy Institute

The debate starts at #TPIAspen18. Be part of it.
