April 26, 2010 – A preview agenda of the Aspen Forum, to be held August 22nd – 24th, is now available on the TPI website. The event will include top leaders in the technology and policy sectors, including Mark McLaughlin, President and Chief Executive Officer of VeriSign, Thomas Tauke, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, Policy and Communications at Verizon, and Hal Varian, Chief Economist of Google. Edward Mueller, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Qwest Communications, will offer opening remarks at the premier policy event.

TPI’s Aspen Forum will bring together leaders from business, government, and academia in a relaxed, informal setting to discuss and debate the key public policy issues surrounding information and communications technology. This year’s theme, “Innovation and Critical Policy Choices: Is the United States Losing its Edge?” will guide the keynote speeches, workshops and panels on a variety of topics. Discussions at TPI’s Aspen Forum will explore the state of innovation in the U.S. and how public policy concerning such topics as broadband, competition, intellectual property and data security can create a favorable environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Aspen Forum will offer discussion panels on such topics as broadband policy, antitrust and competition, and high-tech and communications investment. Attendees will also be able to choose from a variety of concurrent workshops on such topics as data privacy and security, wireless and spectrum policy, smartgrid and energy policy, and health IT. Details on panel participants and additional speakers will be announced in upcoming weeks.
